  3. It seems possible that Hannah (Rugg) Ball was the Hannah Ball that married 1705 John Whitaker of Stow. His will in 1745 names no wife, so she had died by then. Based on the probate of John Ball, a second administrator is appointed 1719/20, and although there is no further documentation to show what was done in this second round of administration, it probably involved distribution of the widow's dower, so not inconsistent.

Hannah Ball and John Whitaker had 4 children based on the will of John Whitaker. The only son (per the father's will) and only child whose birth is recorded is John, b. 1713. He is listed as the last child by an article in the Genealogist, vol. 17 or 18, p. 246 (snippet view, needs further review).

Source:Warren, Frank D. Descendants of John Ball, Watertown, Massachusetts, 1630-1635, p. 11, identifies a Hannah Ball b. 1665 as the woman who married John Whitaker. She was born in 1665, so age 40 at the time of marriage, and then still to have four children? This seems almost certainly wrong. On the other hand, Hannah (Rugg) Ball was 17 years younger, and the John Whitaker b. 1713 is 20 years after her first child, so very typical.
