About Hannah "Hannet" Price

Susanna "Sukey" Price, daughter of this Hannah Price, was named in the will of Hannah's father, Joseph Price, written in 1779.

"I give and bequeath to my granddaughter Sukey Price daughter of my daughter Hannet Armistead one negro girl named Sarah provided the said Sukey shall continue to dwell with my wife until she shall arrive to the age of eighteen years or be married if the said wife shall so long live and in the meantime I give the labour and profits of the said negro to be applied to the support of the said Sukey and if the said Sukey shall decline or refuse to live with my said wife in the same aforeward then the said negro to be disposed of in the same manner as the residue of my estate hereafter."

Based upon the wording of Joseph Price's will, it appears that Sukey Price was born prior Hannah Price's marriage to Francis Armistead in 1776, and likely out-of-wedlock. Hannah's daughter Susanna is also likely the Susanna Price that married Richard Richardson 27 May 1793 in Cumberland County, Virginia. Additional research may be needed.
