V. HANNAH PICKENS, youngest child of Israel and Martha Pickens. was born at Cub Creek in Charlotte Co. Va. in 1749, the year her father died. She died October 26, 1806, aged 57 years. She is buried at Sugar Creek Presbyterian church, Charlotte, N.C. besdie George Davis her second houband. m. (1) JAMES CLARK, son of William Clark of Mecklenbuarg Co. N.C. They were married about 1768. James Clark died ca. 1780, May have died in the revolution. The executors of his well were Samuel Pickens and Hannah Clark. The will and estate papers are in the Archives of N.C. at Raleigh in the Mecklenburg County papers. Their children as shown by the estate papers: 1. MARY CLARK - m. JOHN MONTGOMERY 2. WILLIAM CLARK - signed receipt, his guardian was David Hogshead. 3. MARTHA CLARK - m. JOHN CARRIGAN. Guardian was David Hogshead. 4. MARGARET CLARK, GEORGE DAVIS guardian 5. REBECCA CLARK, GEORGE DAVIS guardian 6. HANNAH CLARK - David Hogshead was guardian. HANNAH PICKENS CLARK - m. (2) GEORGE DAVIS, son of Robert Davis Sr. George's mother is traditionally said to have been Anne Pickens, probably a sister of Israel Pickens. She was second wife of George Davis, who by his first wife Hannah Orr, (or Hannah Sample, according to another account) was father of John, James C., Israel, Robert and William Davis. |
