PIONEER WOMAN IS CALLED BY DEATH
Mrs. Hannah N. Thompson, aged pioneer of the Orland section, passed away at the home of her son south of Orland, last Tuesday as the result of a stroke of apoplexy received a few days ago. Mrs. Thompson, though nearly 80 years of age at the time of her passing, had been in unusually good health until stricken last Monday. She attended the Fair last week and appeared to be as well as ever. Following the stroke Monday afternoon the aged lady never regained consciousness.
The funeral was held from the Frank Thompson residence on Thursday, Rev. Story officiating. Interment was in the Odd Fellows' cemetery.
Mrs. Thompson was born on July 30, 1841, in Indiana, where her girlhood was spent. She came to California with her husband in 1876, settling on the well known Thompson ranch southeast of town where they made their home for many years. She is survived by only two sons of a family of ten. These are Frank Thompson, local farmer, and W. L. Thompson, local business man. Mrs. Thompson was over seventy-eight years of age at the time of her passing.
