    Hannah Emery [#70], d/o John Emery [#8] and Mary Sawyer, b. Newbury ---, d. 6 Oct 1776, m. (1) 8 Dec 1713 Samuel Chase, m. (2) 1762 James Shute of Rowley.

  4. Note that Newbury VRs record Hannah's death under Shute, yet her husbands is recorded under Chute. Under Chute, p. 2:566, is another records for "CHUTE, Hannah, wid., Dec. 6, 1776, a. 'nearly' 82 y. CR4". This would seem to be the same person, but, given the gravestone, the date appears to be wrong. Although this is well past the time when old-style dates were used, this has some appearance of applying old-style month interpretation to a new style 10th month? CR4 is Fourth Church, now Second Church of West Newbury.
