Facts and Events
He moved to Buffalo, NY about 1886 with his mother. He was a printer and published the East Buffalo News in the 1890s. In 1900 they lived at 616 Walden Ave., Buffalo, New York as listed in the census. His career as a printer did not last and by 1905 he moved to the country and later settled in SouthWales, New York where he operated the "Locust Poultry Farm." According to his business card it specialized in "Barred Rocks Exclusively, Eggs and Young Birds in Season, Pigeons, Pekin Ducks, Belgian Hares, Bronze Turkeys." He worked as a printer at the Roycroft Co. in East Aurora, NY from about 1905 to 1912. Several items made by the Roycroft Co. remain in the family. He later served as a justice of the peace and worked as an auditor for the State of New York. In 1914 he was appointed as a bookkeeper for the State of New York highway commission and became chief clerk of the Erie County Highway Department in February 1924. References
