I have also found that the parents of Christen Halvorsen (i.e. your great-great-grandparents) continued to live at the place “Kåsa under Haukeli” to their death. Halvor Christensen died the 11th of October 1886 and his wife Ingeborg Brynildsdatter died 16th of January 1883. This means that the cotters’ farm “Kåsa under Haukeli” was closed down 6 to 7 years after your great-grandmother Ingeborg Karoline immigrated to USA .

This summer I, my wife and my cousins were visiting Melum and we tried to find all the places where our ancestors had lived.
