Unfortunately, Grosert died long before I started working on my family tree.I often wish that I had had the foresight to sit down with Grosert and have a tape recorder to tape (and tap into...) his knowledge of the population of Elma Township. One of my most vivid memories are him giving an oral family tree history lesson on almost all the residents of Elma township. I SWEAR he knew three generations of everyone's family tree in Elma Township! In retrospect,it is such a shame that his reminicences are gone because no one ever bothered to ask...or maybe more correctly... to record...his knowledge.

1. ↑ ^{1.0 1.1 1.2} Ada Jane Shearer and The Shearer Historians. Shearer Family History. (Created in Elma Township in 1938 and maintained by Shearer Reunion Historians. Information was reported by knowledgeable family members and was well maintained in the early years.).
2. ↑ ^{2.0 2.1 2.2} Isa Cleland. Information that Isa researched on the Shearers. (This information was gathered by Isa until her death in 1999. Most is copied from the Shearer Family Tree.).
3. ↑ Grosert is buried with his first wife.
