Edward Ward [#21] m. Grace Lovering, who d. 30 Nov 1754, aged 67. [Note: this age at death gives a birth about 1687, which would make Grace about 12 when her first child is born. Its basis is unknown, no gravestone being discovered, so it appears simply wrong. The real birth is probably by 1680, making her age at death at least 74, if not older.]
↑ A birth about 1680 would imply she was a child of William Lovering of Maine if she was of that line. No such child is shown in Source:Holman, Winifred Lovering. Lovering Lineage (319970)p. 13. A quick survey of deeds of Edward Ward don't appear to indicate any property that came to Grace, so no clue as to her parentage, though she often signs to relinquish dower. No birth or marriage record of such a person has been found. Torrey only lists secondary sources, the available ones offering no clues why Edward's wife is identified as Lovering (Warner-Harrington, Vol. 4, p. 696; and McCormick-Hamilton, p. 1030; not being available).
