Facts and Events
Source: Email from Edwin Boomhower II, 27 May 2004. From another email from Edwin we have the following: "From what I gathered from my dad... Walter's 2nd marriage - to Evelyn - was not the best nor happiest part of his life. He (my dad) was severely affected by his years with Evelyn, which may account for his joining the Merchant Marines immediately after High School. My dad said that there was a rumor that Walter may have thrown himself under the wheels of the train." In the 1920 census Grace Gilman was listed as a boarder at the home of George and Ella Cleveland on W. or N. Main St, St. Albans. She was 23 (1897), born in VT, father born in VT and mother born in Canada. Her occupation was bookkeeper in a wholesale candy store. I cannot locate Walter in the 1920 census but this would indicate he had returned to St. Albans rather than Vergennes since they were married in 1921. References
