Facts and Events
GOTTLIEB was a stone mason, and laid stone foundations for many houses and barns in the community. He lived in the Crooked Run area. In 1875 Gottlieb provided land for a community cheese factory. In 1877 he gave half an acre of his land for the Salem Evangelical Church and Cemetery (southeast Bucks Township). In 1971 the church was sold in order to be torn down for building material. The Swiss bell that Gottlieb had given the church was donated to the Jerusalem United Church of Christ (one of the many original German Reformed churches in the area). The Tuscarawas County Genealogical Society Library in Dennison, Ohio, has a Family History identified as: 929.2 M446hi Gottlieb MARUER. --White Creek 20:17, 26 October 2012 (EDT) Image Gallery
