PETROLIA - Funeral for Gus Vanarkel, 47, was held Tuesday from William Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia, with Rev. C. H. Parkes of St. Paul's United Church officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, Windsor, with Rev. Gordon Giger of Essex United Church officiating. Pall bearers were Bill Field, Bob O'Neill, Bill Koncovy, Elroy Weber, Fred Maxfield and Jack Berdan. Mr. VanArkel, formerly of RR 1, Petrolia amd of Essex, died Saturday at Sarnia General Hospital. He was the husband of the former Betty McRae.

Gus VanArkel, aged 47 yrs, passed away, in Sarnia General Hospital on Saturday. He had been residing at R.R.1 Petrolia, prior to which he had lived, in Essex, for several year. Surviving are his wife nee Betty MacRae; a son David, of London and two daughters. Susan of London; Brenda at home; also three brothers, Jacob, Toronto; Chris, Thunder Bay; George, in Alberta; two sisters, Mary (Mrs. K. DePutter), Strathroy; Jenny (Mrs. Joe Knapper), Sarnia. Funeral services were held at the William Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia on Tuesday, with interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Gus van Arkel, 47, of R.R.1 Petrolia, formerly of Huggard Street, died Saturday at Sarnia General Hospital. Born in Holland, the son of the late Walter van Arkel, he came to Canada 22 years ago. Previous to taking up residence in Petrolia nine years ago, he lived in Essex. Mr. van Arkel was an Ontario Hydro employee. He is survived by his wife, the former Betty McRae, two daugters, Susan of London and Brenda at home, a son, David of London, three brothers, Jacob of Toronto, Chris of Thunder Bay. George of Alberta, two sisters, Mrs. Kees (Mary) de Putter of Strathroy and Mrs. Joe (Jenny) Knapper of Sarnia. Funeral from William Jay Funeral Home, Petrolia Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. C.H. Parkes officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Windsor at 3:30 p.m. Rev. Gordon Geiger of Essex United Church officiated. Pall bearers were Bill Fields, Bob O'Neill, Bill Koncovy, Elroy Weber, Fred Maxfield and Jack Berdan.
