Facts and Events
Labette Co.,KS probate of Jan.30,1952 lists Glen living at Caddo Parish, LA with address of P.O. Box 1672, Shreveport, LA. In son John Braucht's autobiography is mentioned his dad's aunt Kate, but I do not record his aunt Kate (unless she had a different legal name). In that book is also mentioned how Glen was born in Cassville, MO and had seven sibling; that his mother was a teacher (who died when John was only age 8 (abt. 1925, but my records show it was 1908 when Glen would have been age 12) when Glen was reared by his sister Vera; and his father a professor before they moved to Carthage, MO Glen lost his right hand to a train accident while working with a track channeling machine at the Leander quarry. Glen had relatives living in MO, including a cousin named Floyd Henbest. In Feb. of 1928 Glen headed for NW Louisiana near Shreveport. In 1931 he began the Braucht Stone Plant (grave headstones) at Shreveport. In 1932 the family moved to nearby Stephenson. Later they move to West Kerby where John attended Byrd High School. About 1934 Glen moved his family to Dixie Gardens. |
