DOVER Gladys M. Ruppert, 82, died Friday afternoon, May 29, 2009, at her home. She was the wife of the late I. Clark Ruppert, Sr. They were married 61 years. She was born December 2, 1926, in Dover, a daughter of the late Elmer Walker and Lottie (Byerts) Hess, and stepdaughter of the late Charles Hess. Gladys was a homemaker who previously worked as a seamstress for Standard Garment, York. She was a member of South End Democratic Club, Compassionate Friends, and AARP. Gladys enjoyed playing cards, crafts, cooking, sewing, gardening, and going to the mountains with her family. Gladys is survived by two sons, I. Clark Ruppert, Jr. and his wife, Lora of York, and Larry E. Ruppert and his wife, Deb of Yucaipa, Calif.; a daughter, Norma J. Green and her husband, Edward, Jr. of Dover; nine grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Bankert of Jefferson and Valeria Gross of Lewisberry; and a brother, Ralph Hess of Dover. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Steven L. Ruppert, two brothers and a sister. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral at 12 noon Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover. The viewings will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 11 a.m. to 12 noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Suburban Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Gladys' grandson, the Rev.
