    LAMAR - A private service will be held at Howell Cemetery, Milford, for Gladys "Opal" Rector, 91, Lamar, who died at 1:07 p.m. Monday, March 28, 2005, at Truman Healthcare, Lamar. The body has been cremated.

    Arrangements were under the director of Weng Funeral Chapel, Jasper.

    Survivors include a son, Jerry Don Rector, Carthage; a daughter, Roma Jean Vier, Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Tamy Woods and Jeffrey Vier, both of Kansas City, Mo., and Amber Rector, Carthage, and two great-grandchildren, Shane Woods and Amy Lackey, both of Kansas City, Mo.

    She was preceded in death by a son, Gary Dean Rector, and a grandson, Jerrod Lee Rector Shull.

    Mrs. Rector was born Jan. 27, 1914, in Cedar County, to Henry and Lydia (Crossley) Darrah. She resided her entire life in Lamar and the Golden City area, and in her final days resided in Neosho. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Neosho.

    She married Orville Rector on Aug. 27, 1932, in Butler. He died April 22, 1985.
