    Sir Gilbert Kennedy of Dunure was the son of John Kennedy of Dunure.1 He was born before 1356. He married Agnes Maxwell, daughter of Sir John Maxwell and Isabel de Lindsay.1 
     In 1357 he was a hostage to the English for the liberation of King David II.1
