Facts and Events
Gervise Young's Father was also Gervise and his mother's maiden name was Crowell (sic) Crall. He is buried in section 113, lot 13, grave 3. Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/yYB.2ACI/15635.2 Message Board Post: On the 1910 & 1920 census your Gervise Young's wife is listed as Nellie. With the family in both years is a Maggie Young, listed as mother. Gervise Arnow Young is buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, 10 Mar 1904 to 13 May 1962. His death certificate might give you the information you want. Let me know if you need the census info. I found Gervise in the Franklin Co., Ohio Marriage Index, Grooms, 1897-1918 as follows: 1901 Young, Gervice L. & Nellie C. Crall Vol. 32, p. 422. I searched from 1899 to 1905 and could not find a marriage for Gervise to a Maggie Tomlinson. Also checked the Franklin Co., Ohio Index to births 1867-1908, and Gervise Arnow Young was reported. The birth record was as follows: FHL film # 0285137 - Franklin Co., Ohio Birth Records Vol. 6-10 Vol. 9 - Seventh Ward, p. 6, # 4833 - Young, Arnow; b. 1904 Mch 10; b. Ohio, Franklin Co., Columbus; Male; White; Father Young G. L. Young; Mother's maiden name Crall Nellie; Residence 80 W. Rich St. Again, not Maggie Tomlinson. Hmmmm. The Family History Library in Salt Lake City has microfilms of the marriage licenses and records, but since the rate to get them at a Family History Center has gone up, it is probably cheaper to write for a copy. My County Courthouse Book (date 1995) says "for births and deaths 1867-1908, marriages from 1803; contact William A. Reddington, General Referee Probate Court 373 South High Street, 22nd Floor Columbus, OH 43215-6311 copies $3.00 each." The phone number is 614-462-3322 Good luck. This was my grandfather. All the information is correct Children: ShirleyA. Young 10.30.1935 Gervis Arnow Young AKA Steven Pryor Three other children claim Gervise as father, but are actually not his children, Irene, Paul, Mike Young, these are children of Bessie Dupler, adopted by my grandfather.
