DEATH SUMMONS VETERAN EMPLOYEE Gervise Lynn Young died Thursday at white Cross Hospital after an illness which extended over a period of two years. Death followed an operation. At the time of his death “Gervy”. As he was familiarly known by his fellow workmen., was general foreman of the Citizen composing room where he had been employed for 19 years. Gervise Young is Dead Veteran Citizen Employee Dies After Operation Gervise Lynn Young, 45, of 644 S. 22nd Street for 19 years an employee of The Citizen died from complications Thursday at white Cross Hospital. He had been in ill health for two years but his condition did not become serious until six months ago. Three weeks ago he was taken to the to the hospital where he was operated upon several days later. At the time of his death he was foreman of the composition room, having succeeded F.O. Bower at the time of his retirement about four years ago. Mr. Young was probably one the best known printers in Columbus. He learned the trade while proprietor of the “The Leader”, a small village newspaper the New Holland, O. BORN IN NEW HOLLAND Mr. Young was born Sept. 2, 1878 in New Holland. IN 1899 He sold his paper in his native town and moved to Columbus where after a short employment in a job office he entered the employ of the Columbus Dispatch. A year later “Gervy” as he was familiarly know joined the staff of the composition room a the Citizen, advancing thru the various positions to that of general foreman. Mr. Young was a member of the Columbus Typographical Union, the Maccabees, The Oaks, Columbus Lodge No. 3, Knights of Pythias. NEAR ANNIVERSARY He was married Sept 23, 1901 to Miss Nellie Crall of Columbus, who survives him. Had he lived until Sunday they would have celebrated their twenty-second anniversary. He also leaves one son , Arnow Young, aged 19; two daughters , Misses Ruth Young and Jeanette Young, and his mother, Mrs. Margaret Young, all of whom reside at the family home on 22nd st. His father, John Young, is dead. The body will be taken to the home where funeral service WILL BE HELD. The time of the funeral nor the date have not yet been decided upon. Burial will probably he made at Mr. Sterling by N. S. Cook.

Per 1920 Census,Gervais L. Young, lived with wife Nellie, worked as a printer, their two daughters Janet and Ruth, their son Arnow and his mother Maragaret. He disappeared after this and I can find no records of him.

According to the 1910 Census, Gervais L. Young, Nellie, Arnow (grandpa), Ruth and Grandma Maggie Young, they lived at 644 S. 22nd Street, Columbus, OH, Ward2, Prec. I, Dist. 11 stated that Gervais L.'s parents as well as him were born in OH, Maggie states the same thing.
