Geraldine Carhart, 81, of Englewood, Fla., died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2001 at Englewood Community Hospital. Born on July 4, 1920, in Ravena, N.Y., to Gerald and Libby (Dempster) Schermerhorn, she had been a resident of Englewood for nine years, coming from Bradenton, Fla. Mrs. Carhart will be remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Methodist faith. She is survived by her husband, Ralph D. Carhart of Englewood; one daughter, Mary Helen (Bruce) Shonk of Port Charlotte, Fla.; two sons, Ralph C. (Julie) Carhart of Ravena, N.Y. and Thomas G. (Tina) Carhart of Englewood; one sister, Susan Myers of Chatham, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Englewood Community Funeral Home with the Reverend William D. Nelson, Associate Pastor of the Englewood United Methodist Church, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238 in memory of Mrs. Carhart. Arrangements are by Englewood Community Funeral Home.
