Farmer, Per 1880 Census

Goerge served in the 13th Michigan Infantry Company I, during the Civil War. He enlisted in Kalamazoo, Michigan. A history of the regiment reveals that they were active in Sherman's March to the Sear, which played such a vital role in the outcome of the war. 22 Aug 1864 - 8 Jun 1865. He served in the following battles: Chickamauga, Lookout Mountain, Chattanooga, Atlanta, Missionary Ridge, Florence AL, Savannah, Catawba River, Averysboro, and Bentonville.
