1836 -In 1836, Elias is listed in the tax list on behalf of John Smith dec'd. There are 6 entries for Elias and 1 for George. In

          1837, there are 6 entries for George and 1 for Elias.  In 1838, 6 entries for George and 1 for Elias.  In 1839, there a
           for George and 3 for Elias.

1847 -Deed Book E Pg. 206-209 (Children of John M. Smith - George A, Elias, Jane (Simpson) and Sarah (Payne)) (C:/Genealogy Pictures/Lisa's Side) "Whereas by an interlocutory decree of the Russell Circuit Court pronounced at the September (term?) thereof in the year 1845 in the Petition of George A Smith Elias Smith and Thomas Simpson and Jane his wife (tato?) Jane Smith part of the heirs of John M Smith deceased and Elizabeth D Payne Reubin Payne Rachal Payne and Nancy Payne infant heirs of Sarah Payne deceased formerly Sarah Smith and daughter of John M Smith deceased by Henry H Payne their Guardian for the sale of land. It was among other things decreed and ordered that George Bryan (be?) and he is hereby appointed said Court Commisioner for and on behalf of the petitioners to make and execute to Elias Smith a deed of conveyance for the several tracts of land in the (com****) bill and commisioners report....set their hands and seals this 27th day of August 1847."

1849 -Deed Book E pg. 117 - 118 "This indenture made and entered into this 8th day of October 1849 by and between of the County of Russell and state of Kentucky of the one part and Elias Smith of the county and state aforesaid of the other part **** that the said George A Smith for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged that this day given granted bargained and sold and doth by these p***** hereby give grant bargain and sell unto the said Elias Smith the following piece or parcel of land...."

1856 -Deed Book G pg. 26 "Whereas by virtue of a decree of judgment of the Russell Circuit Court endered at the November term (thereof) in the year 1856 in the suit ** Equity of Samuel Long and Edward Long plaintiffs against George A. Smith * Defendant. It was among other things ordered and adjudged that the plaintiffs are entitled to have Conveyance of 8/11 of the land described in plaintifs petition from the heirs of John Ellis decd and 1/11 from Clayton & Peter Ellis and that George Bryan be and he was thereby appointed said sounty commissioner to convey from and on behalf of the hairs of John Elis decd. 8/11 of the land with Covenant of General Warranty so far as ______- and estate descended and of conveyance by general warranty for and on behalf of defendants Clayton Ellis & Peter Ellis ** one Eleventh of said land *** to effectuate said decrees and judgment. This indenture (witnesseth) that Betsey Ellis John Ellis sole _________ of John Ellis deceased and Clayton Ellis & Peter Ellis only hearis at law of George Ellis decd......"
