The parentage of George Seaver is unknown. Some clues can be found in the census records, MA death records, and obituary of his son, Nathan A. Seaver. CENSUS: In the 1840 United States Census, George Seaver was a head of household residing in Thompson township, Windham County, Connecticut. The household included one free white male aged 5 to 10, one free white male aged 50 to 60, two free white females under age 5, one free white female aged 5 to 10 and one free white female aged 50 to 60 ( 1840 United States Census, Windham County, Connecticut, Population Schedule, Thompson, Page 231, FHL Microfilm 0,003,023). In the 1850 US census, the George Seaver family resided in Webster, Worcester County, MA. The household included George Seaver (age 45, operative, born MA), Emily Seaver (age 33, born MA, insane), Judson Seaver (age 17, operative, born MA), Clarissa Seaver (age 15, born MA), Lucy Seaver (age 13, born MA), Emily Seaver (age 11, born MA), Franklin Seaver (age 9, born MA), Matthew Seaver (age 7, born MA) and Mary Seaver (age 3, born MA). (LDS microfilm 0,443,559, page 100, house 164, family 212). COORESPONDENCE: The Massachusetts death records provide death dates and ages at death for sons Judson Seaver (died 15 May 1861 of brain inflammation, age 27y 10m 20d, born in CT, a machinist) and George F. Seaver (presumably Franklin, age 9 in the 1850 census, died 21 Oct 1861 at Balls Bluff VA, age 21y 2m, born Putnam CT, married, a machinist). Both are recorded in Northbridge, MA. Their parents are listed as George and Emily (Chamberlain) Seaver. Linda Stetson (email address rss@@ime.net, received 2 May 2000) provided the obituary excerpt for Nathan A. Seaver which indicates he was born in Thompson CT in 1843, the son of George and Emily (Chamberlain) Seaver. He is probably the "Matthew" age 7 in the 1850 census. Mark Seaver (email address marks@@worldpath.net, received 2 May 2000) provided the spouses for Nathan, Lucy and Mary, plus information on Nathan's descendants. |
