    George W. Nahas, 97 of Woodbury, NJ died Friday, May 27, 2011 in Underwood Memorial Hospital, Woodbury, NJ. He was born Nov. 22, 1913 in Shenandoah Heights, PA, the son of the late Joseph and Julia Nahas. He was preceded in death by daughter Ann, Nov. 1989 and his wife Eleanor, July 1996.

    George served in the US Army in World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal and the European, African and Middle Eastern Campaign Medals with 2 Bronze Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a 54 year member of the Mahanoy City American Legion.

    After discharge from the Army, George was self employed for most of his working years. He owned and operated several businesses in the Mahanoy City, PA area until his retirement. He relocated to Mantua, NJ in 1981 and has lived there until his passing.
