Edward J. Nahas, retired manager of sales and advertising for the Kaier Brewing Company, died today in Locust Mountain Hospital. He resided at 100 West Mahanoy street, Mahanoy City and was hospitalized three weeks. He was born in Shenandoah, son of the late Joseph and Julia (Hadad) Nahas.
Mr. Nahas was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church, Shenandoah, Elks Lodge 945, Mahanoy City Lions Club, Mahanoy City Chamber of Commerce and was on the board of directors of MAJIC. Hewas also active in the Schuylkill County Planning Commission and was vice president of the Football Foundation Schuylkill Chapter Hall of Fame. He was one time part owner of the former Shenandoah Presidents semi professional football team.
Surviving are his wife Agnes (Burba), one son Robert, Bayonne, N.J., one daughter, Patricia, wife of Harry Calley, Camp Hill; one granddaughter Caddy Calley. He also leaves three brothers and three sisters: Alex, Shenandoah Heights; Michael, Philadelphia; George, Mahanoy City; Mrs. Helen Zammer, Josephine, wife of William Leary and Mrs. Jennie Mentusky, Philadelphia. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday from the Oravitz Home for Funerals, Shenandoah. Requiem High Mass 11 a.m. Our Lady of Mercy Church.
