From the Monona (IA) Leader G. Montgomery Passes Away George E. Montgomery, 78, of 354 31st St. Dr. SE, a resident of Cedar Rapids for 36 years, died Monday evening at a local hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Marquette, Iowa, he was married to Nell E. Wornock. He was employed by Kubias and Heabels Hardware. Mr. Montgomery was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and a 25 yr. member of the Eagles. Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons: Alfred J., Lee P. and Lyle R. of Dubuque, Errol A. of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Mrs. Lola Deininger of Galena, Illinois; two stepsons, James N. Bishop, Burbank, Ca., Gerald G. Bishop of Crete, NB; two brothers, John of Austin, Minn., and Donald of Monona, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Lettington, Marion, and Mrs. Annamay Damon of Tucson, AZ, and 21 Grandchildren and 5 Great Grandchildren. Memorial services were held at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories at 1:30 on Wed., June 20, with Pastor Danny E. Millwood of First Assembly of God officiating. Cremation followed the service. ______________________

Born Oct. 10, 1910, at Marquette, he married the former Nell E. Wornock on Nov. 24, 1974, at Dubuque. He was employed by Kubias and Heabels Hardware. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and a 25-year member of Eagles. Surviving in addition to his wife are four sons, Alfred J., Lee P. and Lyle R., all of Dubuque, and Errol A. of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Mrs. Lola Deininger of Galena, Ill.; two stepsons, James N. Bishop of Burbank, Calif., and Jerald G. Bishop of Crete, Neb.; two brothers, John of Austin, Minn., and Donald of Monona; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Lettington of Marion and Mrs. Annamay Damon of Tucson, Ariz.; 21 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services: 1:30 pm Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories with Pastor Danny E. Millwood of First Assembly of God Church. There will be a cremation following services. Friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral home today and at the chapel after 12:30 pm Wednesday. The casket will be closed prior to the service. |
