    ACGAA Judge George Washington Lewis (born "Shellfield", Westmoreland Co., Va., Nov. 11, 1804 - died Apr. 6, 1879), of "Claymont", Westmoreland County, was described by a contemporary in these words: "He was an able and upright jurist, a conservative and impartial judge, a great and good man". During the Civil War he was a member of the Virginia State Senate, and he was very prominent in the Councils of the Episcopal Church. Judge Lewis was twice married. His first marriage, in 1829, was to his cousin ACGCB Jane Brockenbrough Lewis (born Sept. 20, 1810), by whom he had six children: ...
