Notes
- From "Hepner", unpublished manuscript by Abram L. Yost of New Lebanon, Ohio, dated September, 1976:
- "The patriarch of the family of Hepner in the Miami Valley was George Hepner. He was born 1731 at Hanover, Germany, and had come to America in 1757 as a young man, accompanied by a brother. He settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and in 1760 married to Miss Nellie (or Utilla) Kline. After a few years they moved to Rockingham County, Virginia, where they settled on a farm. They had two children: Catherine and Henry. In 1806 he came with his son Henry and family to Ohio. Here he died 1808, aged 77 years. He was known as a man of strong character and the founder of the Hepner Family. He was buried in a woods one and a quarter miles southeast of New Lebanon on the farm of Henry Schoenfelt, later Edward Schonefelt and more recently by C. P. Rotterman."
