The household also included a female, age 15 to 20, who was probably either his daughter Malinda or his daughter Esther. Living next door was a Henry Hauch, whose household consisted of: a male 10-15, a male 15-20, a male 40-50 (probably Henry), a female 0-5, a female 0-5, a female 5-10, a female 10-15, a female 15-20, and a female 30-40. George Hauck appeared on the census of 1840 in New Hanover Township, Montgomery County, as a male, age 40 to 50. The census only listed the gender and age range of household members, but it can be presumed that with George were: his wife Hannah, female, age 40 to 50; daughter Betsy, female, age 10 to 15; and daughter Catherine, female, age 5 to 10. George and Hannah appeared on the census of 1850 in New Hanover Township. Also living in the household was Hannah Hauck, age 17, who was probably a granddaughter. George was a stone mason in 1850. George's wife Hannah died in 1854. George appeared on the census of 1860 in the household of William Fryer, a 21 year-old farm laborer, in New Hanover Township. His son-in-law and daughter, Philip and Catherine (Houck) Sell, were living next door. George Hauck died in 1860. He was buried at Old Goshenhoppen Church Cemetery, Upper Salford Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. In 1895, a biographical sketch of George's grandson, Samuel Hauck, appeared in Biographical and Portrait Cyclopedia of Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Although George was never mentioned by name, he was described as "a prominent man in his community, and was a leading Democrat in the politics of the county. He was a staunch member of the Reformed church...". References
