    George Berry Hank of Gallia County, Ohio was born in Monroe County, Virginia (now WV), on July 20, 1827. He was the first child of David and Elizabeth Parsons Hank, and was named for David's uncle George H. Berry. In 1837 he moved with his parents to Gallia County, Ohio, which was his home until his death on May 16, 1864. On October 11, 1855, he married Olive Weed, born March 14, 1834, daughter of Gilbert and Abigail Patton Weed, of Franklin Valley, Jackson County, Ohio. George and Olive lived on the David Hank farm in Gallia County, Ohio. George B. Hank enrolled as a Union soldier, during the Civil War, on August 30, 1862, at Gallipolis, Ohio, for three years' service; was mustered into service at the same place, November 8, 1862, a a wagoner, Company L, 7th Ohio Volunteer Calvary. He was captured by Confederates on November 6, 1863 at Rogersville, Tennessee and died May 16, 1864 at Andersonville Prison in Georgia, a private.
