G. Gerstenschlager, 82, Once Farmer

George Gerstenschlager, 82, died Sunday evening at his home on West Liberty Street after a short illness. He was the son of Michael and Elizabeth Weinsheimer Gerstenschlager and was born May 1, 1874, near Doylestown. He had owned and operated a farm south of Creston in Canaan Township for 30 years. He had also owned a farm north of Ashland before he moved to Wooster to retire two years ago. Mr. Gerstenschlager had worked in the oil field for Butler, Morgan, and Stevens for 10 years. He is survived by three sons, Harry, Frank and Robert of Creston, five granddaughters, three grandsons, and four great-grandchildren. A son, Stanley, four brothers, and four sisters died previously. Service will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wooster with Msgr. B. J. Weigand officiating. Friends may call at the McComas Funeral Home Thursday evening, where prayers will be said at 8:30 p.m. Matteson Funeral Home of West Salem is in charge of arrangements.
