G. Alpha Farmer dies suddenly

G. Alpha Farmer, age 76, retired farmer, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon at his home at 227 W. Main St. in Mooresville.

Mr. Farmer, son of W. W. and Sue Updegraff Farmer, was born Jan. 29, 1887, in Morgan County. He graduated from Mooresville High School in 1906 and on Aug. 26, 1908, he was married to Carrie E. McPherson. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1958. He belonged to the Friends Church, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Besides the widow, survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Dorothea Prescott, and a son-in-law, Owen Lavelle Prescott.

Funeral services will be held at the Carlisle and Son Chapel Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock with the Rev. Mark Shugart, pastor of the Friends Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Mooresville Cemetery.

On Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock a Masonic service will be held at the funeral home. Friends may call tonight after 7 o’clock.
