Grace Gardens Funeral Home, Waco TX (www.gracegardensfh.com): George Clyde Coppage Jr. of Hewitt passed away Tuesday, March 08, 2011 at his residence. Memorial Services will be held at 2PM Saturday March 12, 2011 at Beacon Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Harley Gordon. George was born January 3, 1922 in Kentucky to George and Myrtle Davisson Coppage Sr. He served his country with the Army during WWII as well as in Korea with the Corps of Engineers. He then enlisted into the Air Force where he served as a Crew Chief with the Strategic Air Command on a B-47. He continued his service until his retirement in 1970. He then worked with the Commonwealth of Kentucky Parks Department where he served as a State Park Ranger and then as an investigator with the Attorney General’s office. After his retirement from the Commonwealth of Kentucky he moved to Texas where he worked at the Texas Ranger’s Hall of Fame. He also worked at the Salvation Army of Waco. He was a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Evelyn Hoxie Coppage, sisters, Wanda Coppage Schrecker and Christine Coppage Fentress. He is survived by his wife Betty; children Carol Barnes and husband Mike of Healy, KS, Ashley Marsili and husband Mike of Dawson Springs, KY and Tim Coppage and wife Lu of Waco, TX, his sister Janice Huerta and husband Jerry of Clarksville, TN and his brother Kenny Coppage and wife Fay of Jasper, TN, eight grandchildren...
