GEORGE BRANDEBERRY. The subject. of this sketch comes of a family of pione ers . The son of James and Jane (Bates) Brandeberry, whose sketch appea rs elsewhere in this volume, he was born in Section 10; Perry Twp Au gust 3, 1855, and attended the common schools of District 8, in Perry. Sin ce his boyhood he has seen the schools greatly improved, and heartily endo rses the movement in that direction. He also attended Heidelberg Colle ge at Tiffin for a short time. Mr. Brandeberry, when but a boy, selected farming as a vocation in life, a nd under the tutorship of his father he received excellent training. His f irst ideas in this work were obtained on the farm where he now lives. On D ecember 21, 1876, he was married in Perry township to Miss Lavina Baker, w ho was born in Scott Twp Sandusky CO; November 26, 1859, the par ents of whom were Martin and Mary (Wise) Baker, both natives of Hancock co unty. The parents of Mary Wise were Benjamin and Lydia, who came from Penn sylvania. Mrs. Brandeberry was the only daughter among four children, t he others being Wm, Amos and Emmanuel. After his marriage our subject located on the home farm, in an old house w hich has since been torn down, and he and his father worked in partnersh ip until 1891, when our subject became owner of a portion of his present f arm, and later bought the rest of his present home, consisting of 160 acr es of as good land as there is in the CO, 123 acres of which is cleare d. Four children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Brandeherry: Howard, who d ied in infancy; and Lee, Jennie, and Guy, who are still living at home. O ur subject was a Republican until 1892 when he joined the Prohibition part y. He and his wife have been members of the Methodist Church for eighte en years, fourteen of which he has been a class leader, and for three yea rs he has been superintendent of the Sunday-school. He also belongs to t he Odd Fellows at West Millgrove.
