Hij werd opgeleid tot R.K. priester en was voor de kerkhervorming werkzaam in de parochie van Oldehove te Leeuwarden. Van hem zijn de woorden: "Mis is 't, mis heet het en mis zal het blijven!" Hij legde het priesterambt neer en werd protestant waarna hij naar Bolsward vertrok en daar enige tijd de geneeskunst uitoefende. Vandaar vertrok hij naar Holland om in 1590 de gemeente van 's Mijnsheerenland als predicant te dienen. Vervolgens stond hij in Schelluinen, Beusinchem en Zoelmond. Daarna keerde hij terug naar Friesland waar hij predicant werd te Wons en Engwier. In 1602 had hij Goutum als standplaats waar hij ook overleed.
