[edit] Revolutionary War Pension InformationInformation from “Virginia/West Virginia Genealogical Data from Revolutionary War Pension and Bounty Land Warrant Records”, Vol. 6, compiled by Patrick G. Wardell, Lt. Col. U.S. Army Ret. : Watts, Garret/Garrett - born 1/8/1756 in Caroline County, Virginia; moved abt. age 12 to North Carolina, where he entered service in 1779, resided in Surry County, in North Carolina cavalry regiment; entered service 1780, resided in Caswell County, North Carolina, in North Carolina company & served at Battle of Gates Defeat; later joined North Carolina regiment & took part in Battles of Guilford Courthouse & Camden; moved to Jefferson County, Georgia, after the Revolutionary War, then to Pendleton District, South Carolina, then to Bledsoe County, Tennessee, thence to Perry County, Alabama, where he was granted Pension in 1834; died 2/6/1838 there; married 7/16/1787 to Anna Self, Anson County, North Carolina; widow applied for pension abt. age 84 in Gibson County, Tennessee, & Pension Application Rejected, insufficient proof of marriage; dec'd when children mentioned but not named applied for pension in 1857 & Pension Application rejected.
