COTTAGE GROVE - The funeral will be Nov. 19 for Garland Clio Banton Abeene of Cottage Grove, who died Nov. 13 of age-related causes. She was 93. Abeene was born Nov. 20, 1900, in Alsea. She attended school in the London, Ore., area. She married Joseph Abeene in London on May 2, 1920. He died July 13, 1987.
Except for the past few months, Abeene was a lifelong resident of the London and Cottage Grove area, and a lifetime member of the Church of Christ. Her interests included photography, antique bottles, flowers, basket weaving, writing letters and hunting agates.
Survivors include three daughters, Lavelle Stimmel and Lucille Lusk Smith, both of the London/Cottage Grove area; and Laveta Hughes of Bedford, Texas; eleven grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Saturday's service is at 11 a.m. at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove. Burial will be at Bemis Cemetery in London.
Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart General Hospital.
