From Nancy Ottman: From Baden,Germany (according to Aunt Thelma Born Strawsburg, Germanynear Kehl (to right of Strawsburg). Red Hair, Drunkard, Dad (GeorgeOttman) was often told Frederick hung himself . However, Vinton Countynewspaper Republic reported 5-23-1895 under news from Zaleski FredrickOttman, a former resident of this place, committed suicide by takingrough on rats in Chillicothe Friday Last. His remains were brought tothis place and buried Monday. The Ottman family was called yellow footedDutch because when they gathered eggs , there were too many for thebasket and they stomped on eggs thus yellow feet. June 2, 1880 Census- Fredric Ottmann, married, 49 - Carpenter. Worked for the B&ORailroad.

Fredrick and Katharina are buried at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Zaleski,Ohio. Caroline and John are buried in the plots directly south ofFredrick and Katharina. Both wives rest with their first husbands. Wecould not find any records of children for Caroline and John or Carolineand Fredrick.
