Son of David & Bessie Knapp Kesler Fred C. Kesler, 89, son of David & Bessie (Knapp) Kesler, was born April 6, 1923 in Panora, Iowa. He passed away Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Guthrie County Hospital, Guthrie Center, Iowa. He attended Washington Township School near Perry until moving to the family century farm near Guthrie Center from where he graduated in 1941. On May 24, 1944, he married Zada Vandevanter in Jefferson, Iowa. They made their home around the family farm by Monteith until moving to Panora 20 years ago. Freds second love has always been farming the family farm. He also worked as a tool and die setter in Des Moines for 30 years, retiring from there in 1985. He retired from farming about 15 years ago but was at the farm daily. Fred enjoyed racing horses in his younger days, he also enjoyed playing baseball, going camping, camping at the State Fair and Spencer Fair, and going to the mountains for family vacations. He was on the school board for the Monteith Schools. Fred is survived by his wife of 68 years, Zada Kesler of Panora; children, Barb (Bill) Mains of Redfield; Charles Kesler of Guthrie Center; Dennis (Linda) Kesler of Ames; Sally (Dan) Tripp of Parker, CO; and Teresa (Lony) Jensen of Casey. Ten grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Charlotte Kopaska, daughter-in-law Joan (Graves) Kesler, grandson Bradley Mains, and 4 sisters Myrtle Bailey, Wyoma Alborn, Wilma Collins, and Mildred Caldwell. Visitation: 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Twigg Funeral Home - Panora 219 E. Main Panora Iowa 50216. Family will be present from 5-7 PM. Service: 10:30 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Panora First Christian Church 102 E. Church Street PO Box 130 Panora ia 50216.
