Frederick Oxlade was born in March 1828 and baptized in Cookham, Berkshire, 11 months later. In all his census entries he stated he was born in Southwark. His brother, Alfred, two years younger, found living with Alfred in 1851, was born in Cookham. The 1841 census, discovered later, confirms that parents William and Phoebe spent a year or two in London at the time of Frederick's birth and then returned to the Thames Valley area. Cookham and Marlow are both on the River Thames, no more than 5 miles from each other.
Notes on the geography of the Berkshire and Buckinghamshire areas mentioned will be found on the page for Frederick's parents, William and Pheobe Oxlade.

On the image the previous household was made up of husband and wife, surname Gooch, aged 29 and 26. Therefore the "relation to head of family" was incorrect for Frederick and Alfred. Should be "head" and "brother".
