Upton cum Chalvey was the parish that covered Slough in the 1850s. Today the very old Church of St. Lawrence, Upton cum Chalvey, is on the southeastern edge of the large town of Slough, about half a mile from Slough's High Street. William's paternal grandparents were living in Upton cum Chalvey at the time of the 1851 census.
