Frederick Lynde changed his name to Frederick LYONDE shortly after his marriage. Whether this was a formal change of name by Deed Poll is unknown. His brother, Robert Lynde, was also a photographer, and commercieal reasons may have led Frederick to change his surname.
Birth registrations of his children indicate that he was living in Hamilton in 1895, but had moved to Toronto by 1897.
His studio at 167 Yonge Street, Toronto, was in a fairly prestigious position in the centre of the city. His three sons were all in partnership with him (Mights Directories of 1921).
A photograph of the gravestone of his father, Sylvester Lynde (qv), found in the Whitby Online Historic Photographs Collection (www.ourontario.ca/whitby) is credited to Frederick Lyonde. The design of the gravestone is unusual and, possibly, Frederick Lyonde was responsible for its design as well.
Death registrations in Ontario are only currently available to the general public up to 1937. Notice of his death was not found up to that date.
