Facts and Events
Frederick Barricklo served 7 years in the militia and was releasedd November 19, 1831. His papers were signed by Capt. John McClelland. (The release papers are in the possession of David T. Barricklow). They (his sons) were big strong men. They helped Frederick and Nancy Barricklow build the barn, 1840, and the house 1841. There is a receipt bearing the date, January 20, 1842, when Frederick Barricklow paid George W. Fox $55.00 and $45.00 to Herron, payment in full for building the barn and house. Also a receipt of Frederick paying $6.00 to Adam Dickerson September 16, 1851 for the coffin, the funeral expenses of Katherine Dugan. (Sister of his wife.) She was buried at Nottingham. The sons helped build the barn on a farm of 120 acres in section 14, Cadiz Township, Harrison County, Ohio. They worked for their neighbors making rails to build fences; clearing land; cutting wheat with sickles, or whatever work they could find. |
