Fred Wilcock was a Chemist and owned a number of shops in Bradford, however he had difficulty in making the businesses pay.

He proposed to Marie Spinks in 1902, and subsequently travelled to Newcastle to a new business. He returned to Bradford in 1904 and in April of 1905 he took possession of a business in Horton. They were married in August, and then took their honeymoon in Whitby. The couple returned to their new home: 11 Swinton Place, Horton.

On 8 December 1906 Fred Anderton was admitted to the Society of Friends as a member.

On 5 May 1917 Fred Wilcock travelled to Hull to manage Milburns Chemist, 53 Prospect St.

On 26 March 1919 he went to Liverpool to work as a dispenser for Mr Pubble. His wife and son joined him in October 1919 and they lived in a series of rented apartments and houses. He left Mr Pubble's employ in March 1924, and in August took on locum work in Liverpool. In December 1925 he went to the Dispensary in Kensington.

In February 1926 the Doctor was called, and he died in April, after a severe heart attack.

He appears to have left his wife with little money, as she packs up their rented rooms in July, and moves to Birmingham as a 'help' to Mrs Arthur Priestman at 248, Bristol Road. THeir son, Ralph, leaves Ackworth School at the end of the summer term (aged 15) and joins a Birmingham car mechanic to learn the business.
