Obituary - Topeka Capitol-Journal, Monday, August 31, 1981 Fred E. Gay Fred E. Gay, 71, 941 Glenn Court, died Sunday at a Topeka hospital. He was born Dec. 29, 1909 at Butte, Mont., the son of Alex and Eugenia Gay, and he grew up in the Clyde and Clifton communities, moving to Topeka in the 1930's. Mr. Gay was a sheet metal worker for Santa Fe Railway until his retirement in 1975. He was also a member of Holy Name Catholic Church. He married Ruth Carlson June 2, 1936, at Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include a son, Gary Gay, Topeka, three daughters, Mrs. Sally Brooke, Topeka, Mrs. Trudy Copeland, Kokomo, Ind., and Mrs. Peggy Miller, La Mirada, Calif.; four brothers, Leonard Gay and Edgar Gay, both of Topeka, Calen Gay, Hobart Ind. and Albert Gay, Belton, Mo.; four sisters, Mrs. Stella Prather and Mrs. Marie Bailey, both of Concordia, Mrs. Dora Genlino, Morganville, and Mrs. May Buck, Topeka; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Holy Name Church, where a rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Brennan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
