1963 - Newspaper Clipping: Ex-Sheriff's Deputy Dies At Age of 87. Ransomville - Frank Johnston, 87, of 5655 Lewiston Road, died this morning (Dec. 31, 1963) at Ransom General Hospital after a 5 week illness. Born in the Town of Porter, he had lived in Niagara County all his life. He was a retired farmer and former deputy sheriff of Niagara County, serving 12 years. He is survived by his widow, Ada (Nickerson) Johnston; two sons Gilbert and Edward Johnston, both of Lewiston; three daughters, Mrs Herbert (Mabel) Nickerson, Lewiston, Mrs Victor (Alice) Senecal, Niagara Falls, and Mrs William (Hazel) Pollock, Youngstown; two brothers, Arthur Johnston, Gasport, and Porter Johnston, Youngstown; a sister, Mrs Edward (Gertrude) Crocker, Olean; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2pm at the Gentle Funeral Parlor here by Rev Paul Denise of Lewiston Presbyterian Church…. Burial will be in Oakland Rural Cemetery, Youngstown….
