From the May 27, 2007, edition of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls (IA) Courier WATERLOO - Frank C. Buhlman, 82, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, May 22, of mesothelioma caused from asbestos exposure. He was born Nov. 28, 1924, in Newton, son of Frank and Bertha Baltz Buhlman. He married Grace I. Porter on May 1, 1953, in Waterloo. She died March 22, 2004. Mr. Buhlman graduated from Waterloo West High School and a technical refrigeration school in Chicago. He owned and operated OK Refrigeration Co. in Waterloo in the 1950s and '60s and later worked at Union Plumbing and Sheet Metal and Midwest Refrigeration in Independence, retiring in 1986. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Survivors include: a son, Jim (Mary) of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Lynne (Jeff) Reith of Waterloo; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Public visitation from 2 to 5 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church. Memorials: may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
