Named in his uncle Richard Stoughton’s will as “my brother Edward’s son.” Francis’s will provides for his wife Agnes, his son Thomas, and his sister Alice. His brother Thomas gets care of his lands until his son is 21 (he had land in Ash and elsewhere). His son Thomas also received £3.6.8 yearly to keep him in school. The will of brother Thomas in June 1591 names his nephew Tomas, minister. In addition, the will of Francis’s brother Joe’s son (another Thomas, of St. Paul’s in Canterbury), names Thomas Stoughton, my cousin, minister of the word of God.

    In his will, dated July 28, 1557, proved Sept. 30 1557, Francis left the keeping of his son Thomas, 1557-1622, to his wife Agnes.
