Facts and Events
Francis Kelly was born on 20th April 1865 in Liverpool, son of Catherine Kelly, formerly Ralston, and her husband Dennis Kelly, a boiler maker. Francis was Dennis and Catherine's second child. They had married and had their first son the opposite side of the Mersey in Birkenhead, but at the time of Francis's birth were living at 89 Mann Street in the Toxteth area of Liverpool. They later returned to Birkenhead, where Francis sadly died when he was about eleven months old.

Toxteth Park at this time was a civil parish which was partly within and partly outside the municipal borough of Liverpool. Mann Street was in the part of Toxteth Park which fell within Liverpool's borough boundaries.
