- ↑ Source:Hudson, Charles. History of the Town of Lexington, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, from Its First Settlement to 1868, p. 45, places a son Francis, b. about 1685, in this family. It is assumed this is based on Francis being named in the father's will of 1744, but no abstract or transcript of the will is provided, nor has the text of the will been found. Even if the son Francis existed, no marriage or death has been found to support the idea that he existed. Further, the basis for the estimated birth date is unknown and conflicts with the recorded birth of Martha the same year. Hudson assumed Martha belonged to the grandfather, but the birth record names both mother and father, clearly indicating this family. So it is presumed that Hudson merely assumed that Francis would be the oldest son, and not being constrained by Martha due to his misidentication, came up with an invalid estimate.
