"A "Taylor Francis Baker", aged 24, was enrolled to be transported on the Planter, having "brought certificate from the Minister at St. Albans in Hertfordshire." There is no evidence to connect this Francis Baker with the "Francis Baker, cooper" who was admitted to dwell at Yarmouth 1 Jun 1641 [PCR 2:17]. The six-year gap with no records, combined with the differing occupations, make it extremely unlikely this was the same man."

Will of "Francis Baker of yarmouth", dated 4 Mar 1692/93, proved 8 Dec 1696, names wife Jesball [later "Isball"]; grandson Samuel Baker eldest son of son Nathaniel; son John Baker; son Daniel Baker; son William Baker; daughter Elisabeth Chase; daughter Hannah Pearse. Wife Isball and son Thomas Baker to be executors, friend John Miller and Thomas Bills to "be helpful".

  3. Obviously based on the probate, Francis probably died in 1696 as his will was proved near the end of the year. The basis for death date 23 Jul of 1696 is unknown, not being found in the records. It is given in many secondary sources without giving any basis. Often an age of 84 or 85 is given. Without knowing where the death date came from, we have to assume the origin of the age at death is assumption that he is the same name on the Planter which is doubtful as they had different occupations.
